Parking limited, use free MyCiTi shuttle for Stormers game

DHL Stadium is hosting a thrilling United Rugby Championship match between the DHL Stormers and Munster this Saturday, 19 October 2024. The City of Cape Town advises spectators and residents of the logistics for game day.

The DHL Stormers are playing their first home game of the 2024/25 season after a three-game tour of Europe.

Gates for the match open at 16:00 with kick-off at 18:00.

With approximately 30 000 spectators expected for the game, the City of Cape Town is availing a free MyCiTi bus shuttle for match ticket holders. 

‘As a result of parking restrictions in Green Point, Sea Point and Mouille Point for the Sanlam Cape Town Marathon, there will be limited to no parking in the precinct and surrounds. Therefore, we encourage rugby fans to please make use of the free MyCiTi shuttle from the Cape Town Civic Centre, Thibault Square and the CTICC.

Therefore, we encourage rugby fans to please make use of the free MyCiTi shuttle from the Cape Town Civic Centre, Thibault Square and the CTICC. Park in the CBD, use the Fan Walk or get on a free bus to the stadium to avoid being stuck in traffic congestion. We would also like to discourage people from parking illegally in the residential areas in their pursuit of parking close to the stadium. Illegally parked vehicles will be fined and/or towed away. We look forward to providing a boisterous homecoming to the Stormers and giving all fans a memorable experience’, said Alderman JP Smith, Mayoral Committee Member for Safety and Security.     

The MyCiTi shuttle service will take spectators to the stadium from the Cape Town Civic Centre and the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC) from 15:30.

Buses will depart from these points frequently or when full. The last bus after the game will leave the Stadium Station at 22:00.

The City will open up its secure parking area at the Civic Centre for rugby spectators on Saturday, with spaces available on a first-come first-served basis from 15:00.

The parking areas are accessible from Hertzog Boulevard incoming and on Civic Road. The parking is free.

Paid for parking is available at the CTICC for those taking the bus from the convention centre.
